What is VR (Virtual Reality)?

Virtual reality technology allows its users to interact with a virtual environment as they are interacting with the real world. It is a technology that uses a computer-generated to immerse individuals in it in real-time. It can generate a virtual simulated environment. In this environment, people can immerse themselves in VR headsets, Oculus Quest 2, and HP reverb G2-like devices. It has gained a lot of attention from people in distinctive fields like Medical, Gaming, Education, Production, and Entertainment. The innovative technology lets people understand complex concepts and visualize and explore the virtual world with computer hardware or software.

Development of Virtual Reality:

Virtual Reality originated in the 1960s when a great scientist of Computers Ivan Sutherland first formed an HMD that was a head-mounted display and was able to show the basic graphics of wireframes. After that, the technology started growing until now. It modifications of motion tracking, haptic feedback systems, and many more.

How does Virtual Reality actually work?

VR is a technology that simulates visions to generate a three-dimensional world in which its users can entirely immerse themselves while using it. The technology allows its users to control it and experience it with its innovative features. It works by gadgets like a controller that gives complete access to control and explores it. The technology is also designed to get knowledge of photos and movies that are image-positing, surrounding environment, and appearance.

What are the types of VR?

VR technology is of distinctive type in today’s world that includes the technologies that let its users interact completely in a digital environment. But it offers a limited interactive experience of immersion. The industry of this technology still has a lot to go to provide a realistic sensory environment. It’s working on bringing this vast technology into business platforms also. However, some of its types include:

1.      Non-immersive Virtual Technology:

Non-immersive VR provides a 3D simulated environment by the display of a computer screen. In this, the user accesses the virtual environment by mouse, keyboard, or other devices. Video games are the best example to understand this type of VR. It can also generate sound according to the specific environment.

2.      Semi-immersive Virtual Technology:

This type of VR allows its users to interact with the virtual environment partially. They access it by the Computer or goggles or headsets. The main focus of semi-immersive VR is to visualize the 3D aspect of this virtual environment. However, this still does not include physical interaction with the virtual surroundings as it happens in its full immersion VR technology. A common example of this type of technology is a flight simulator which armies or air companies use to give training to their pilots.

3.      Fully- immersion Virtual Reality:

This type of VR technology is the latest version of this technology which incorporates visuals, sounds, and touch in some cases, and researchers are even working on bringing the sense of smell in this type of tech. It lets its users immerse physically in the simulated 3D world in which users use gloves, goggles, and helmets that provide a fully interactive experience. In some cases, it uses stationary bicycles or treadmills to give an impact of moving in the 3D virtual world. Technology is playing a significant role in the field of gaming and in healthcare and has gained the attention of a lot of people.

4.      Collaborative technology:

Collaborative technology is also considered as Virtual Technology in some aspects. In this technology, people from different areas of the world come together in the virtual environment to meet one another. In this, all of the individuals are created as 3d projector characters in which the people can interact with the microphones and headsets.

5.      Augmented Reality:

Augmented reality is sometimes considered as Virtual reality which is why people get the wrong idea about this. AR uses the real world to display the required information in different fields such as navigation social media platforms and many more. It doesn’t use the virtual world to display it uses the real world and adds the information on top of it. For instance, furniture retailers use it that allows users to check or place furniture in their house this technology in mobile applications takes online shopping to the next level.

6.      Mixed Reality:

MR technology also mixes with VR which forms an environment by mixing real and artificial objects. Additionally, it provides a chance for virtual things to interact with the actual environment and generates a seamless experience for its users.

What are the Features of VR?

There are also plenty of features offered by this technology to provide a fully or partially immersive experience with the virtual world. Some of its features are:

The virtual world of VR:

The virtual world is a completely fictional world that is completely different from the real world. The creators also designed this to create a relationship between artificial and real objects or things. The virtual world is created by modifications in the real world.

Immersion:

It provides an interface to its users in which they get completely immersed in the virtual world. The VR technology provides the experience of immersion by headsets giving a complete interface of view, headphones provide the facility of sound that takes the user to another world.

Sensory Input of VR:

The headset of virtual reality detects the location of the user and lets the computer generate changes in the position of the Virtual world. In this way, while moving the head and arms of a user will interact with the virtual world.

Interactivity:

The virtual reality technology provides a high level of interaction with the user. The virtual world will have virtual components which can include picking up swords or smashing buttons or pressing the buttons while moving in cars or airplanes in the virtual world.
